cPanel Migrations

When migrating email data to Webdev, the following steps outline the process. These steps assume you're migrating from a host that uses cPanel.

Steps:

  1. Backup Your Email Data

    • In your previous cPanel account, navigate to File Manager > /mail.

    • Compress the /mail directory into a ZIP file to ensure all email data is backed up.

    • Download the ZIP file to your local computer.

  2. Transfer the Backup to Webdev

    • Log in to your Webdev cPanel account.

    • Navigate to File Manager, then upload the ZIP backup file into the home directory.

    • Extract the contents into the /home/username/mail/ directory (replace username with your actual cPanel username).

  3. Create New Email Accounts on Webdev

    • Go to Email Accounts in Webdev's cPanel.

    • Recreate the email addresses (same usernames and domains) that were on your old server.

    • After creating these accounts, Webdev will automatically link your extracted email data to the corresponding accounts.

  4. Verify and Sync

    • Log into Webmail to verify the emails have been restored.

    • You can also configure the new account in an email client using IMAP or POP to ensure the emails are synced properly.
